  • The microsite launched in December 2018 to celebrate 55 years of broadcasting the show. Partnering with Spotify, the site allowed users to travel back in time by selecting a year from the past to download a musical playlist.

    The website was well received by the public as after downloading one playlist, users chose to start over and download playlists from a variety of years.

  • Each section of the site was built to fill the users browser and the navigation bar on the side jumped from section to section. The navigation was designed this way to mimic the way the Tardis travels through space and time.

Performance

All of the users for this advertising campaign came to the website via banner ads on the Spotify app. The average percentage of people who visit a website via clicking on a web banner and leaving without exploring the website further is generally around 56.5%.

This is what’s commonly known as a bounce rate. While some bounces are unavoidable, a high bounce rate may indicate that your content is unsatisfactory or poorly optimized.

Overall this project reached 10,805 users while it was live, receiving a 39.7% bounce rate on desktop and 40.7% bounce rate on mobile, showing that 60% of visitors had meaningfully engaged with the experience.
