Concept

Kiichi's overwhelming obsession is captured in the film by a fixed and anxious stare into the camera. Adding the handwritten monologue from the film around this portrait reflects the mental struggle which he is experiencing.

Concept

Kiichi is isolated in his fears of disaster so I wanted to play with a radioactive aesthetic to symbolise the effect his anxiety is having on his mental state.

Before & After

Concept

This film focuses on the legal battle between Kiichi and his family as they contest his mental health. I wanted to explore his fear of nuclear fallout through a visual metaphor of trying to defuse his anxieties around his family and the bomb.

Concept

I wanted to capture Kiichi's view of the world as unstable and twisted to represent his anxieties while he's focused on a desire to protect his family.

Generational conflict is a key theme in this film and so I wanted to capture the effects that Kiichi's obsession is having on his family in a simple composited still.
